I learned some fun new techniques in the process and I'm down half a bottle of silver fingernail polish for that flask tip. 😆 I was worried about the weight but it came in at around 2lbs. Still heavy but could have been worse. Mustrum Ridcully Hat WIP update #2. Once the body of the hat was partially felted, I needle-felted a star and moon pattern into the surface. You can see how the overlays for the brim I was working on in the last post turned out. I roughed them in together, trimmed the excess and top-stitched those together. I started working on the pockets for all of his accoutrements for the hat, including a small pistol bow and and collapsible fishing pole. The tip will also have a removable flask. Last year I was asked if I could make a custom Mustrum Ridcully hat and as a huge fan of Discworld I was thrilled for the challenge. This hat was absolutely a labor of love; many hours and a lot of problem solving went into figuring out the construction. I'll be sharing the process of making this hat over the next few posts before showing the finished product! Here I was working on the plaid sections for brim and earflaps, an oak and acorn pattern on one of the pockets, and the star and moon inlays for the body of the hat.
